The City of Pleasanton in cooperation with Hacienda would like to make sure you are aware of new laws that apply to your Hacienda site regarding waste management and special programs that are available to help you comply. The City of Pleasanton invites you to a special informational event on waste management for an opportunity to learn more about recently passed laws and resources to assist you in complying with these laws.

Informational Event

The waste management informational event will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The event will take place at the Firehouse Arts Center, 4444 Railroad Avenue in Pleasanton. Presentations will be made by guest speakers from the City of Pleasanton, Alameda County Waste Management Authority, Go Green Initiative, HF&H Consultants and Pleasanton Garbage Service. Presenters will provide information on recently passed legislation including: SB 1383 and AB 827, the county Mandatory Recycling Ordinance, the Reusable Bag Ordinance, how waste and recycling rates are set, and what programs and services are available to assist property and facilities managers with compliance. A question and answer session will follow the presentations. All Pleasanton property and business representatives are invited to attend.

Mixed Recycling Program

Pleasanton Garbage Service will provide one 96 gallon mixed recycling cart to each eligible Pleasanton Garbage Service account at no charge. Additional carts or larger front-end load containers are also available for an additional fee. Materials that must be recycled include newspaper, white paper, mixed recyclable paper, cardboard, recyclable glass food and beverage containers, metal (aluminum and steel), food and beverage containers, PET #1 and HDPE #2 plastic bottles.

Food Waste/Organic Recycling

Pleasanton Garbage Service also offers a Commercial Organics Program for businesses that generate food scraps, food soiled paper (such as paper towels, paper plates, and waxed cardboard) and plant debris. Organics collection service is provided by 96 gallon carts or front-end load containers. A fee is charged for these containers based on the size and frequency of collection service provided. To make separating food scraps, food soiled paper, and plant debris easier, the Alameda County Waste Management Authority is offering free indoor green containers and lids, up to $500 per approved business. Pleasanton Garbage Service offers a free waste assessment to help you determine your organization's garbage and recycling service needs, and free set-up and on-going support to help keep your program running smoothly.
